Order Jamie Glazov’s new book, ‘United in Hate: The Left’s Romance with Tyranny, Terror, and Hamas’: HERE.
Fearful of an American attack on the Ayatollah Khamenei, the Iranian government has just issued a warning to Washington: if you attack our beloved Supreme Leader, this will constitute a declaration of war on the world’s Muslims, and they will rise up as one and unleash a jihad that will destroy you.
Well, at least the Iranians have made clear that “jihad” does not mean a “struggle within oneself to be a good person,” as Muslim apologists want us all to believe. Its primary meaning is violence against the Infidels. It means striking non-Muslims — not just Americans or Israelis — who, after all, are “the most vile of created beings.” (Qur’an 98:6)
Algemeiner reported that “Iranian lawmakers on Tuesday warned that any attack on Iran’s so-called ‘supreme leader,’ Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, would lead to a declaration of ‘jihad,’ or holy war, and a violent global response from the Islamic world.”
The Islamic Republic’s parliamentary National Security Committee stated that “any attack on the supreme leader means declaring war on the entire Islamic world.” The committee added that any attack would result in “the issuance of a jihad decree by Islamic scholars and the response of Islam’s soldiers in all parts of the world.”
Not to be outdone, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said that “any aggression against the supreme leader of our country is tantamount to all-out war against the Iranian nation.” Regarding the aggression of the Islamic Republic’s minions against the pro-freedom protesters in Iran, Pezeshkian had nothing to say, but Algemeiner reported: “Iranian officials have put the death toll at 5,000 while some reports indicate the figure could be much higher. The Sunday Times, for example, obtained a new report from doctors on the ground, which states that at least 16,500 protesters have died and 330,000 have been injured.”
Whom should we believe on the numbers of people killed and wounded? Those who did the killing and wounding, and who have consistently underestimated those numbers, or the doctors inside the Islamic Republic of Iran who have treated the wounded and counted the dead? Particularly startling is the doctors’ report that 330,000 Iranians have been injured during the recent protests. A staggering number. And all of those people and their relatives — amounting to a few million people — will now be consumed with hatred for the regime.
Do the Iranians really believe that the entire Muslim world will unleash a jihad against the Americans if they attack the supreme leader? The response to the Iranians’ boast has been tepid. Pakistan’s defense minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said: “We will stand firmly with Iran in all conditions.” Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated: “I am confident with wisdom, my Iranian brothers and sisters will overcome the treacherous Israeli-backed sedition that targeted the country’s social peace and stability.” He did not, however, say anything about sending troops against the United States. And so far, that’s all.
Have the Iranians forgotten that the Sunni Muslims, who make up 85 to 90% of the world’s Muslims, despise the Shi’a, with some extremist Sunnis even denying that Shia can be considered Muslims? Have they forgotten the attacks on Shi’a by Sunnis in Pakistan, including the bombing of Shi’a mosques and madrasas? Or have they forgotten the Sunni terrorist group Sipah-e-Sahaba, whose reason for being is to attack Shia in Pakistan, especially Shia professionals? Have the attacks by the extreme Sunnis in Afghanistan known as the Taliban, who massacred Shia in the city of Mazar-e-Sharif in 1991, and who have continued to attack the Shi’a ever since, especially those belonging to the Hazara ethnic group, not left an impression on the Iranians?
Far from the Muslim world rising up against America should it target the Supreme Leader, there will be a delirium of joy across Iran, and deep satisfaction among the world’s Sunnis, should the supreme leader be eliminated by an American bomb or fire from a drone. The Iranian regime is now whistling in the dark, hoping to scare the Americans with a threat about “all Muslims” rising up against them that, upon inspection, proves to be hollow. Very few Sunnis will drop a ready tear for the supreme leader, should he meet the end he so richly deserves.
