Order Michael Finch’s new book, A Time to Stand: HERE. Prof. Jason Hill calls it “an aesthetic and political tour de force.”
What was Renee Nicole Good thinking when her girlfriend yelled, “Drive baby, drive” and grinning she drove her 4,000 lb Honda Pilot SUV at an armed federal law enforcement officer?
Her last thoughts were likely of her imaginary white privilege and why it failed to protect her.
Good had supported BLM and had inhaled its mythology of ‘the talk’, the idea that law enforcement is a racist institution, that police started out as ‘slave catchers’ and that they exist to persecute black people while giving white people a pass. This would have come as a surprise to the over 2,000 white people who have been shot by police officers since 2020.
White leftists go into confrontations with law enforcement officers wearing their imaginary white privilege like the emperor’s new clothes. This ideological fiction that underpins Marxist identity politics works about as well in real life tests as Marxism does. That’s what Renee found out.
There is no white privilege. Talk or no talk, assault or threaten an armed law enforcement officer with a deadly weapon and you will die. Just ask any of the 542 white people who were killed in 2025. Three days before Good was killed, police shot and killed Rachel Tarrence when she tried to make her escape in a stolen car in Illinois. Tarrence reportedly backed into a squad car, drove at a state trooper and was then shot and killed. Tarrence, like Good, was a white woman.
Tarrence’s shooting never made national news because she was the wrong race and because her death, like those 2,000 deaths, disproves the same narrative that got Good killed. Tarrence’s behavior closely echoed Good’s. Women are rarely shot by police. The 4% of police shootings involving women generally happen because they escalate the encounter beyond what might lead to a man being shot by not just displaying weapons or threatening to use them, but actively attacking officers or someone else.
That’s what Good did. BLM taught her that people get shot because of race. They don’t.
Asian women are the group least likely to be shot by police, not because law enforcement has a bias towards them, but because they’re the least likely to attack police officers with a deadly weapon. Middle class white women from stable households who aren’t experiencing mental breakdowns very rarely get shot by police for the same reason. What Marxist academics and their media and pop culture allies have popularized as ‘white privilege’ is just behavior.
And making good choices. Good voluntarily took herself out of those categories and got shot.
Police don’t open fire over narratives. They don’t shoot anyone because of skin color. They do open fire in response to threatening behavior. The best predictor of being shot by a cop isn’t race, it’s class, and more specifically, it’s a history of criminal behavior combined with substance abuse and mental illness. Those most likely to be on the receiving end of a police shooting are the ones who disobey police orders, behave erratically, display weapons and attack police.
Renee Good inherited George Floyd’s golden coffin because she hit all of the bases.
The Left, which never got over its ‘Chicks to the Front’ protest tactics from the sixties, is eager to tell us all about Good, the stuffed animal in her 4,000 lb lethal weapon, and how she had dropped off her kids at school before unintentionally committing ‘suicide by cop’ in Minneapolis.
But as useful as a white female martyr may be to the cause, waving this particular ‘bloody shirt’ clashes with the claims of racist genocide that BLM rioters used to burn down entire cities. If a white woman can get shot just like a black man, where’s the systemic racism anyway?
Good’s imaginary ‘white privilege’ wasn’t a bulletproof vest. A federal immigration enforcement officer shot her the way he would have shot anyone, of any race or gender, driving a 4,000 lb SUV right at him. There is no magical ‘white card’ and law enforcement does not allow some people to drive cars right at them while unfairly penalizing others who do it over their race.
Before and after Good drove her SUV at an ICE enforcement officer, ICE and Border Patrol had shot at others, including Latino illegal aliens and gang members, who tried to run them over.
The shooting of Renee Good disproves the idea that ICE is in any way racially biased.
Democrats, Hollywood celebrities (who rallied for Hamas, but couldn’t be bothered to speak out for Iranian democracy protesters) and the media are the ones who made much more of Good’s shooting than any of the other shootings of Latino illegal aliens and criminal car rammers.
Why do they care more about Renee Good? Why does her life matter more? If you want systemic racism and white privilege, the place to find it isn’t law enforcement, but at CNN, the Democratic Party and every organization hag-ridden by leftists including the YWCA, which decided to value Renee’s life more because they can use her death to fuel their narrative.
But if Renee Good’s death is to have one good consequence, it’s that some of the white suburban women who drifted into leftist activism during COVID, rallying for BLM, for Hamas and for open borders, may have the opportunity to rethink their radicalization pathway. Local urban law enforcement has been taught to defer to radical activists shutting down streets and burning down buildings in Minneapolis, Chicago, New York City and Los Angeles. Under Biden, National Guardsmen were punished for deterring rioters from attacking the White House.
But we’re no longer in the era of FBI agents ‘taking a knee’ to racist domestic terrorists.
The Left violently hates ICE personnel because they’re following the law and doing their jobs. Tweeting angrily at them is one thing, but trying to run them over will ‘George Floyd’ even the whitest woman. Federal law enforcement is done ‘taking knees’ and now fires actual bullets.
Let the word go out after Renee Good’s death, federal immigration enforcement is happy to ‘decenter’ any white privilege and its people will defend their lives without a hint of racism.
White privilege isn’t real and it won’t stop a bullet.
