Democrat Hypocrisy on Venezuela | Frontpage Mag

Believe it or not, a lot of the case against Venezuela’s regime was built up under the Biden administration. Biden and his top officials showed very little interest in the matter, but the FBI and other agencies did assemble a solid case that Maduro and the Venezuelan governor were running a drug cartel known as Cartel de los Soles. Rewards were placed on top figures in the regime.

The work began in Trump’s first term and very obviously now climaxed in his second term, but it continued under Biden.

And apart from Bernie, AOC and the usual Communist-adjacent leftists, like John Kerry (pictured above with Maduro) there was general bipartisan support for removing Maduro. Apart from rote condemnations and a show of support for the opposition which had won the 2024 election, they weren’t willing to do anything about it beyond tweet and issue press releases condemning Maduro for being a very naughty boy who should behave.

President Trump did.

The barrage of condemnations, the false claim that this was about seizing oil (the same thing Dems seem to claim about every war in the last 25 years) and the appeals to a constitution they don’t believe in (which congressional vote allowed Obama to bomb Libya anyway) cynically anticipates the demands of their base which is to scream bloody murder about anything Trump does, while in reality they either don’t care or they quietly support the move.

Every serious member of Congress knew that Venezuela was a major problem and all but the Marxists wanted him out of power. The operation was handled as smoothly and quickly as anyone had a right to expect. The objections here are wholly hypocritical.

The same Democrats who a few months ago were claiming that we couldn’t block migrants from Venezuela because of the regime now want to pretend that there was no reason to remove Maduro from power.

The same Democrats who signed off on Hillary Clinton’s “We came, We Saw, He Died” in Libya are suddenly outraged.

Please, spare us the false constitutional sanctimony when all you really want is the approval of Jennifer Welch.
